Scalp micropigmentation (SMP)
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses medical-grade pigment to create the appearance of natural hair follicles on the scalp. Whether you want to add density, camouflage scars, or create a clean-shaven look - SMP delivers instant, lasting results.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), sometimes called a "hair tattoo," involves depositing medical-grade permanent cosmetic pigment into the scalp using specialised thin needles. Each deposit creates a tiny dot that replicates the look of a natural hair follicle.
Unlike standard tattoo ink, SMP uses pigments specifically formulated to resist fading and colour change over time. The practitioner varies needle depth, angle, and dot size to create a natural, three-dimensional appearance that mimics real hair density.
At Zeeva Clinic, SMP is performed by trained practitioners under medical supervision. We use it both as a standalone treatment and as a complement to hair transplant surgery - particularly for camouflaging donor area scars or adding visual density between transplanted grafts.

How SMP Works
Design & Colour Match
The treatment area is mapped out, hairline shape is designed, and pigment is matched to your natural hair colour and skin tone.
Numbing
Topical numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
Pigment Application
Using specialised micro-needles, pigment dots are deposited into the scalp at varying depths and sizes to create a natural hair follicle appearance. Each session takes 2-4 hours.
Layering Sessions
Most patients require 2-3 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart. Each session adds density and refines the result.

Most patients describe it as mild discomfort - similar to light scratching. Topical numbing is applied before the procedure to minimise any sensation.
SMP results typically last 4-6 years before gradual fading occurs. A touch-up session can refresh the appearance. The pigment doesn't change colour like traditional tattoo ink.
Absolutely. SMP is an excellent complement to hair transplant surgery. It can add visual density between grafts, camouflage donor scars, and enhance the overall appearance of your transplant results.
Most patients require 2-3 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart. Each session builds on the previous one, adding density and refining details.
For the first 4 days after each session: avoid wetting the scalp, heavy exercise, direct sun exposure, and swimming. After that, normal activities can resume. Sunscreen on the scalp is recommended for long-term maintenance.
